Property Tax

    Missouri Property Tax Credit (PTC, "circuit breaker") — NOT an exemption. A refundable income-tax credit that reimburses a portion of property tax (or rent) paid. For 100% service-connected disabled veterans: maximum credit is $1,100/year (homeowners who lived in the home all year) or $750/year (renters or part-year owners). Strict income limits: owners must have household income ≤$30,000 single / $34,000 married; renters ≤$27,200 / $29,200. Note: VA disability compensation IS counted as income for this calculation. Filed annually with MO Form MO-PTC. There is NO general property tax EXEMPTION for disabled veterans in Missouri — proposed legislation HB921/HB2672 (2026 session) would create one but had not passed as of April 2026.

    Missouri Wartime Veterans' Survivors Grant — tuition + room/board allowance for surviving spouses and children of MO-resident POST-9/11 combat veterans who EITHER died from combat action OR became 80% disabled from injuries/accidents sustained in combat after 9/11/2001. The veteran parent must have a DD-214 showing combat pay tax exclusion / hostile fire pay / imminent danger pay. NOT available for general 80%+ disabled veterans. Grant covers: tuition (up to MU Columbia in-state rate), $2,000/semester room and board, and up to $500/year for books. Award is competitively limited to 25 students per year (statutory cap).
